Thing is, even with the "New York price," tickets to popular shows are mighty expensive. So when I was offered a free ticket to Tony Award-winning "Avenue Q," I said yes.
I can see why the show is so popular. It's got puppets. (One half of the couple standing behind me asked, "We're seeing a musical about Sesame Street?!") It's got humor, truth, an actress who looked like Keiko O'Brien from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and an actress playing Gary Coleman of "Diff'rent Stokes," and naked puppet sex.
But mostly, it was a fun bit of froth that had lots of people humming tunes from the show, including "It Sucks to Be Me."
A nice bit of levity for what would otherwise have been a work-focused weekend.
(Just for kicks: watch "It Sucks to Be Me" in Swedish.)
