City of Fog and Wonder

add a little atmosphere
Play "Love Song"
by Sara Bareilles

Figures I'd have to fly to San Francisco and run a half-marathon to discover a new song that I'm now stuck on.

Singer Sara Bareilles was onstage at the Nike Women's Marathon finish. She and her band were pleasant enough, a little something-something in the genre of Rachael Yamagata and Tori Amos and Fiona Apple. I tottered around trying to stay mobile when most of my muscles were telling me to quit.

Knowing that was a bad idea, I staggered toward where they were posting finish times. And that's when she played today's featured piece. When it was over, she announced we could find it on a CD being sold next to the stage. I lurched over to a man in a tiny booth and asked how much. "Six bucks," he replied.

I whipped out a ten, got my disc and my change and went home happy.

Listen to Sara's songs on her official website and her MySpace page.
